About the Brewery

Oldest Family Brewery in the World

For nearly a thousand years, Wildbräu Brewery has been crafting beer the way it was meant to be—pure, natural, and deeply rooted in tradition. Founded in 1060, Wildbräu proudly holds the title of the world’s oldest family brewery, with an unbroken lineage tracing back to its founding.

Farm-to-Bottle

At Wildbräu, authenticity isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a way of life. Every grain used in their brews is sourced locally, ensuring a true farm-to-bottle experience. These are the same fertile lands that have supplied the brewery for a millennium, preserving the flavors and traditions that define Bavarian brewing.

Ancient Craft Methods

Their love of tradition means Wildbräu embraces slow, meticulous brewing techniques passed down for many generations. All beers undergo a lengthy lagering, allowing deep flavors to develop naturally. The brews contain 100% natural carbonation, entirely derived from the primary fermentation process. Neither are Wildbräu beers ever pasteurized, so that the beer preserves its fresh and complex character.

Highly awarded

Wildbräu Brewery has received some of the highest awards in Germany. Wildbräu brews earned gold medals from the World Beer Awards, as well as platinum, gold and silver medals from the prestigious Meineingers International Beer Awards.

Festbier

Indulge in the timeless tradition of Wildbräu Festbier, an authentic German lager crafted with precision in the heart of Bavaria. This golden pour boasts a refined malt character reminiscent of fresh white bread, layered with subtle notes of caramel and toffee for a rich, inviting depth. On the palate, it delivers a velvety smoothness with hints of biscuit, perfectly balanced by a pleasant hop bitterness that tempers the malt's natural sweetness. The beer culminates in a crisp, dry finish, leaving a lingering whisper of malty elegance that beckons another sip.

Brauerei Wildbräu

The brewing history of the Grafing area was shaped by hard water, which made light beers impossible to brew. While the name suggests a strong beer, its dark colour comes from deeply kilned malts. Brewed as a full-bodied beer with over 12% original gravity, it is carefully refined by our Braumeister using dark and roasted malts. These create gently bitter roasted notes with flavours of malt, caramel, and coffee.
